At
Connected Concepts, we
utilize constraint management methodologies and
applications to assist our clients
in identifying their primary business constraints and in
addressing the underlying conflicts that are their
causes. Armed with this knowledge, appropriate solution objectives are
formulated and implemented.
By applying the Theory of Constraints (TOC), we approach every business situation from an enterprise perspective. From experience, we understand the pitfalls of viewing any part of a business organization in isolation. Our approach to business problem solving is driven by the belief that every business is comprised of interrelated and interactive chains of events. A complex business may consist of multiple chains of events, but there are still underlying cause and effect relationships that tie the components of each of these chains together; nothing happens in isolation. Only by examining these cause and effect relationships can we understand the impact of isolated actions on the company's total performance. We often use the analogy of a chain, because it provides a visual sense to the linkages that bind together a company's actions. The strength of any chain is limited by the strength of its weakest link. Only by identifying and strengthening that weakest link do you truly strengthen the chain. Any efforts that work to strengthen the other links of the chain, without addressing the weakest link, will have no effect on increasing the strength of the chain itself. And, in fact they may actually be harmful to the enterprise. We begin most engagements by working with our clients to fully understand their current business environment. Our initial task is to obtain a clear picture of how our clients envision their business now and in the future. Through interviews of managers, associates, customers, and suppliers, we work to compile a list of undesirable effects (UDEs) that the organization is currently experiencing. We try to clearly identify the enterprise's core business problems, constraints, conflicts and road blocks. The application of constraint management's logical Thinking Tools and the 5 Steps of the Theory of Constraints help to guide us. We apply proven constraint management applications like Drum-Buffer-Rope and Buffer Management. (See The Retail Supply Chain Utilizing Drum-Buffer-Rope for an example.) We also apply Critical Chain and Buffer Management to deliver successful projects. In todays business climate, which demands rapid "time to market" and flawless execution, we provide a solid choice. Our clients look for proven experience, personalized attention, innovative application of appropriate technologies, and fast, reliable "on time - on budget" implementations. Utilizing our extensive knowledge and experience, gained from over twenty years of solving significant business problems, in designing and implementing Outsourcing Solutions and Supply Chain Management processes, as well as in designing and implementing state-of-the-art multi-tiered client server WMS Systems integrated with material handling systems and automated data collection, we offer a total range of capabilities to deliver winning business solutions. Our goal is to build strong partnering relationships with our clients so as to be regarded as an important contributor to their continuing business success. We focus all of our client partnerships on the achievement of mutual long-term profitability. |
